Where is Oz when you need it?

My seven year old just had a meltdown because she doesn't have a copy of the Wizard of Oz. Do you remember when you had ONE & ONLY ONE chance to watch it on CBS every year? Remember when it came out on the TV guide & you got excited making plans to stay in & have the bath time done & plunk your ass in front of that thing? Well, thanks to modern technology; my daughter thinks she should have it at her fingertips. On demand whenever she needs to remember the flying monkeys, she should be able to screen select right to it. JEEZES!

I told her to just go to MGM on line & watch it there, until I could have it shipped from Ebay!

the first thing that came to mind when your blog popped up was...

I HATE THAT FRIGGIN' MOVIE!!!

but i totally remember having all those feelings as a kid...waiting for it to start and then getting all scared when the witch parts came...and that friggin' bike music (nit nit nit nit naaaaa naaa), and the way my mother would look at me and say..."i'lllll get you my little pretty...AND YOU LITTLE DOOOOG TOO! Oh and then having to go upstairs for bed...I always leaped for my bed so that my feet wouldn't get too close to the it so the witch who was always under it, wouldn't grab by feet and then once in bed....i'd have allll my stuffed animals around my head, and body to that i was extra protected (i always had many), and then in the night when i'd wake up and if my hand or foot was hangin' over the edge...holy shit forget it...i'd get all scared and pull 'em back in and ..... oh you get it. that movie still scares me!!

I have to share my memory of that movie. My dad would always call me on the night it was on. Then as I got older, I called him when it was on and he had no clue. It's not really my favorite movie but I'll watch it if it's on. Always looking to see if I can find the guy who hung himself and the other little oddities in the movie. I know....Odd.

they haven't cut that part out in editing yet? I thought that they took that out years ago... (the hanging part?)

I always try to sort out the children from the little people when they are in munchkin land. Some you can tell right away by the way they walk/run others you have to look close.

It's not a character-it was someone who worked on the set. He did it during the woods scene with the tin man and the witch...I think I saw it once-it might even be when they are walking.

They probably have taken it out in the newer versions, but on the old VHS it's there.

just to clear the air. According to the official MGM website, & I quote:

"Incorrectly regarded as goofs: There is no stage hand on set at the end of the Tinman sequence, nor was anyone hanged, nor did they fall out of a tree. The shadowy figure at the back of the set as Dorothy, Scarecrow and Tinman set off down the Yellow Brick Road is a large bird stretching its wings."

we'll all sleep better tonight! Sorry to burst any bubbles!
