The NEWer Pool. Dig date 11/12 - 11/15!!
Monday, October 29th 2007 is the long awaited official date on which our fantasy drawing will begin it's journey from permit to Barbie Dream Pool. We have some decisions to make still but are at least sure we know who will be doing the work. Pools by George will be doing the majority of the process. (George is dead. The man who is carrying on is Dave, I already have his work, home & cell numbers on speed dial.) If you are a Floridian, you know the horror stories & trauma that surrounds having a pool built. For those not in the know; the list may include but is not limited to: Holes dug & left to breed mosquitoes in one's backyard for months on end, payments made & no phone calls returned, extra fees not mentioned in the original quote, terrible service after the fact.... the list is endless!!
I believe we've found the right guys at the right price. I will be leaving this blog open though... anyone with insight may speak up. I'll be posting progress as it occurs. FYI, I've been promised this will be a done project in six weeks. Six weeks to the day will be Dec. 10th. If we are swimming by Christmas, I will be overwhelmed with joy, knowing we made a good choice. Otherwise, I'll be exhuming George's corpse & following Dave around with it while I call him repeatedly on speed dial day & night.

what size pool? from pics your yard doesn't look real big...??...but anywho, one must do what one must do to get a pool in FL! i hope things go according to plan with no hitches!
what's the good word on the maid?
the expansive yard is actually 75'x 120' of course my house takes up a good portion of that but we have a huge backyard for living in the city. They don't measure in acres here!! the pool will be 30x12x14 a kidney shape. when I get the drawing back from the permit people I'll scan it in.
I love my maids. I'm only allowed monthly visitations with them but I love them. They did all my windows in 1.5 hours & even dusted the cobwebs where the dust bunnies were collecting. Maids are good.
there.... how you like that to scale artistic rendering?.... this was my vision 4 yeas ago. The real thing is much better & the manroom was not in the concept.
Sat. Nov. 3 - Met with Dave the Pool Dude & Al Plumber (who will now be refered to as Al Notallthere.) Main Sewer line will be relocated on Nov. 12 to make room for the big dig on Nov. 14/15. No extra cost for Dave The Pool Dude to trench out the plumbing thus saving us big bucks on the plumbing bill!!! Great start. Let's see how this all works as both are scheduled to be here on site Next Monday. Permits in the final stage to be certified at County Courthouse Monday Nov. 5th!

CK - (ring through to the ANTP's voicemail) hey Al, it's Kate just wanted to let you know that the pool guys will be here on Monday morning at 9:30am to trench the new sewer ditch. If you are going to be there to direct them great otherwise call me so we can determine when you will mark out the ditch prior to Monday. I'll look forward to hearing from you.
ANTP - (while I'm at Olivia's piano lessons he returns my call which I also let go to voicemail) Yeah, ah Kate, ah this is ummm AL. I'm not sure what you wanted but if it's important call me back.
I couldn't speak after I listened to the message. This man was at our home for 3.5 hours not 4 days prior to these calls with the full knowledge of what he was going to do & when, now it seems he's suffered some sort of complete amnesia & memory loss! Once I regained my sanity, I called him back & it went a little like this:
CK - (he picked up this time, I must have seemed important!) yeah,ummm Hey AL - THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!! YOU ARE GOING TO MOVE MY PLUMBING ON MONDAY. THE GUYS WILL BE DIGGING A DITCH FOR YOU AT 9:30 AM ON MONDAY THE 12TH. WE ARE HAVING A POOL DUG ON TUESDAY THE 13TH WHICH WILL RIP OUT OUR EXISTING SEWER DRAIN. ANY OF THIS RINGING A BELL? IF SO, TELL ME WHEN YOU INTEND TO BE HERE TO GUIDE MY TRENCH DIGGING.
ANTP - (..... long pause;) yeah I was going to be there just not at 9:30am. I'm planning on marking it on Sat. in the morning then getting to your place around 11ish on Monday? is that cool?
CK - I'M GLAD YOUR WITH ME AL, that is cool, CUZ I WAS ABOUT TO RIP YOUR HEAD OFF & USE YOUR NECK AS MY NEW TEMPORARY COMMODE. YA KNOW, YOU COULD HAVE MENTIONED ALL THIS IN YOUR ORIGINAL MESSAGE & SAVED US BOTH A TON OF UNDUE DISTRESS.

Any new pics? How's the construction going? What's the grand tally on this purchase? Yikes........my next door neighbors just put in a gunnite (sp.?) pool and landscaping...over 100 grand. I'll stick to the lakehouse..lol.
